Brown Boy Gear or B.B.G. as it is known by clients, is a “blended” line of clothing with a distinct Oakland flava. Brown Girl Gear (B.G.G.) is the female partner in the line.
We define “blended” as a fusion…a fusion that encompasses the elements of culture, language and people. If all cultures were “blended” we would be brown. Simple. Our belief is that we are all brothers and sisters, differentiated only by an individual’s unique cultural experience. Brown Boy Gear is a reflection of what we, as human beings, all have in common; namely a shared DNA.
Recent studies in DNA Migration Patterns and tracing ancestry by DNA have scientifically and conclusively proven that whether a person is European, Native-American, African or Asian, we all ultimately share a gene found in a Sub-Saharan African lineage. Brown Boy Gear celebrates this connection with clothing that mirrors the growing movement of youth, young adults, or anyone who no longer wants to be forced to identify themselves by checking a box. Whether our clients are multi-cultural, multi-racial, multi-lingual or simply multi-talented, they are progressive thinkers. They come in all sizes and shapes. Their clothing is no longer merely a way to protect them from nature’s elements; rather it is a style that speaks of them and to them.
